The Audition

I woke up with the moon and stars. But it isn't the beautiful scene that you are dreaming of... I woke up to the moon and stars only because I also woke up to the screams of my dear Grandfather. After calming him down, I was down for the count. Only my dreams kept getting interrupted. It seemed that my Grandfather was going to have it his way or no way, and no way involved me not getting any sleep. Imagine my fatigue as I got ready for my audition later on that day.....
So here I am in the heart of LA ready to begin my audition to be a dancer for the Tokyo Disneyland Resort. Kasha talked me into it, and the pass day had consisted of my writing up a dance resume and having some headshots of myself printed out. So the day is finally here and I have the jitters. That and a mad urge to use the restroom! When we arrived at the studio. We encountered a great turn out for the audition of 240 people!! 240 of us were stuffed into a tiny studio!! And if you think that was crazy. Just imagine the line for the restroom. It was an absolute horror!
The audition itself was one of the funniest thing that I ever encountered. I was thinking that I would be dancing to hip hop music. Boy was I in for a susprise when I discovered that we would be dancing to ballet instead. Three Japanese ladies and three Americans were the head of the audition. As one of the Japanese ladies showed us the routine, another was translating and dancing to the steps as well. The whole process of showing us the dance took about three minutes of both ladies telling us to do one ballet technique after the other. Me, who has no ballet training whatsoever, was at a lost. All I knew what that I was suspose to turn here, leap over there and remember to smile the entire time. After that the audition was finally upon us. I was number 214, and very grateful to be able to watch and practice along the sidelines until my turn arrived. My audition was definitely not peotry in motion. But I managed to get the first part right. My turn was a little two early, and I didnt leap as high as I wanted.... but it was the funnest thing I have ever done! The audition was a blur, truly! It was over so fast and I was cut from the audition faster than you can say ohayo gozaimasu!! So as we, the sad cut auditioners were asked to leave the studio.... I made sure to say a proper " Thank You" to the three Japanese ladies. My accent when saying "Arigato Gozaimasu" was spot on!! So as I phoned my mother , I was met with," You made it!" I told her, " Um.... no." She laughed later on that day when I showed her my routine and she said to me, " I wish I could I saw that audition!!!!" I'm sure she would have laughed her ass off!!!!
